ACTIONS TO TAKE IF YOUR TOASTER OVEN CATCHES FIRE
8/6/2019 (Permalink)
Since it’s possible for toaster ovens to catch fire and pose safety concerns, SERVPRO of Downtown Long Beach/Signal Hill reminds you of several tips to avoid fire damage in your Long Beach residence when operating toaster ovens.
- Do not leave your toaster oven unattended while making food. If possible, unplug the oven while not in use to eliminate the possibility of accidents occurring.
- In the event of a fire, unplug the oven immediately. If you don’t have a fire extinguisher, douse the flames with baking soda until they are put out.
- If the food in the toaster isn't greasy, you can also throw water on the fire to kill it. Don't do this if grease is present in the toaster since water can make the fire worse.
- Never use a toaster again after it has caught fire. There could be electrical damage that may lead to electrocutions or another fire.
